Hello and welcome! My name is Krista Hussey and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. Throughout my life, my aim has always been to make those around me feel welcomed, heard, and understood. As a counselor, I believe that everyone has the tools to manage whatever life presents and my role is to help my clients identify and use their tools. Counseling is a collaborative effort wherein the client’s goals guide the process. I use an integrated approach that combines elements of clinically tested and evidence-based methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, to tailor my treatment plan to my client’s needs. Using a variety of interventions, such as creative expression, roleplaying, psychodynamic techniques, and meditation, I help my clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
My education includes a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from William Paterson University and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Along with my educational background, I possess a unique skillset that stems from experiencing challenges and struggles in my personal life. My professional experience includes working with children (5-yo & up), adolescents, young adults, older adults, couples, and families. I am able to treat a variety of conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Further, I have been able to assist those struggling with grief, major life events, or daily stress.
Self-care is not just something I encourage my clients to practice, but something I try to prioritize in my personal life. This includes spending time with my husband and daughter, spoiling my two rescue pups, reading, painting, gardening, and cooking for my friends and family.
Counseling can be a great benefit for issues and situations, both big and small. I would love the opportunity to help you grow, thrive, and enjoy life.
