Leigh is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and the owner of Bluffton Okatie Counseling Center. Leigh works with children, adolescents, families, couples and adults of all ages. Leigh is passionate about helping people overcome past trauma which include early attachment trauma, sexual trauma, single-event trauma and relationship trauma. Leigh is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as experienced using Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Leigh has worked with clients with alcoholism and addiction issues including process addictions such as gambling, social media and other compulsive behaviors. Leigh has experience treating depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, self-harming behaviors, conduct disorders, challenges of aging and caring for aging parents, grief and loss and has a particular interest in helping clients with emotional or psychological abuse recover and thrive. Leigh can provide services to clients seeking Christian faith-based counseling.
Leigh is a mother and step-mother and understands the challenges of blended, adoptive and non-traditional families. Leigh received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of New England and her bachelor’s degree from California State University Long Beach.
